Christopher E. A. Scholtes, CPA

Chris is a Certified Public Accountant with over 14 years of experience in public accounting. He is President of C.E.A. Scholtes & Associates Certified Public Accountants (19 employees) specializing in servicing small, middle market and emerging businesses and non-profit organizations. Chris has also assisted large public companies with complex and technical accounting issues and implementations of technical accounting pronouncements. Chris established his practice in September 2002

Chris' practice is predominantly centered around providing many types of accounting services including - part time or interim CFO services, monthly closes and financial statement preparation and analysis, internal control audits, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, business plans, internal control reviews, accounting software implementations and training, FASB implementations, etc. Chris' Firm also provides back office bookkeeping/CFO services using experienced bookkeepers (CPAs and MBAs). Chris also performs attest functions for clients (financial statement audits, reviews and compilations) and technical reviews of financial statements for small CPA firms.

Chris began his career first at Arthur Andersen and Co., LLP in September 1993 where he serviced large public companies with SEC reporting requirements for almost three years. He then joined RSM McGladrey's (formerly known as C.W. Amos & Company) Audit and Business Advisory Group where he spent almost five years and was promoted twice (first to Supervisor and then to Manager). Chris then joined Stout, Causey & Horning where he regularly managed large and complex audit engagements for the Firm. Additionally, he was in charge of performing technical reviews for the partner group on deliverable products to clients.

Chris has served as the Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Maryland Chapter. Most recently, he was appointed to the Executive Committee where he serves as the Organization's Treasurer. Subsequent to serving as interim CFO for the Maryland School for the Blind (MSB) (over 300 employees & over $25 million in portfolio assets) Chris was appointed to the Board of Directors of the MSB and was recently elected Treasurer. Chris serves as the Chairman of the Finance Committee and as a member of the Parish Council of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Towson, Maryland. Chris also serves on the Board of Directors of Towson Catholic High School.

Chris is a graduate of the Sellinger School of Business and Management at Loyola College - Baltimore, Maryland. While at Loyola, Chris served as President of a student accounting organization, received various honors and was selected by the faculty as a member of the 1993 Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. Chris lives in Towson with his wife, Marta (also a CPA and Loyola College graduate and integral part of the practice) and their children.

Marta P. Scholtes, CPA

Marta is a Certified Public Accountant with over ten years of experience in public accounting. She specializes in servicing small and emerging businesses and non-profit organizations with various accounting services. Marta also has a significant background in the taxation of corporations (S-Corps, C-Corps) and partnerships (LLP's and LLC's). In addition, Marta has experience in serving many different types of companies including, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and construction contractors. Marta has spent her entire career with Ellin & Tucker, Chartered, Certified Public Accountants and Business Consultants. She was promoted to Senior Accountant and then to Supervisor over the course of her career. Marta, alongside her husband, Chris, heads up the accounting services practice of C. E. A. Scholtes & Associates. Marta is a graduate of the Sellinger School of Business and Management at Loyola College, Maryland. While at Loyola, Marta received various academic honors. Marta is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Karen L. Broughton, MBA

Karen has over 15 years of experience in nonprofit and for profit business management. Most of her time has been spent in association management focusing on budgeting, development and financial management. Karen has an extensive knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software. Karen provides many accounting services to her clients including bank and account reconciliations, payroll accounting assistance, budgeting, and Quickbooks implementation and training. Karen received her B.S. from Messiah College, Pennsylvania and her Master’s in Business Administration from Marymount University, Virginia in 1998

Beth K. Volley, CPA

Beth is a Certified Public Accountant with over 10 years of experience in accounting. She began her career in public accounting with KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP, in September 1994. During her time there, she was involved in the audits of various healthcare providers, not-for-profit entities and benefit plans. She was promoted to Senior Accountant, then to Manager and finally, Senior Manager. In addition, Beth served as the primary recruiter for KPMG's Baltimore office. Beth spent her entire career with KPMG before joining C.E.A. Scholtes & Associates. Beth is a graduate of the Sellinger School of Business and Management at Loyola College, Maryland. While at Loyola, Beth received various academic honors, including the Lybrand Accounting Medal and the Management Information Systems Medal.

Geetha Rajasekaran (Technology and Website Specialist)

Geetha has over 6 years of experience in Information Technology. She has spent most of her time in Programming, Website Applications Development, Database designing and maintenance and software development. She was involved in developing more than five websites with back end databases. She has developed many interactive applications for websites. She has an extensive knowledge of web applications development using ASP, Javascript, VBscript, XML and in designing relational databases using SQL Server 2000 and MS Access. Geetha has received her Masters in Computer Applications from Madurai Kamaraj University, India.

Sue A. Musolf

Sue Musolf began her career at C.E.A. Scholtes & Associates in November, 2005. Sue brings with her over 10 years of experience in both public accounting and information technology. Sue began her career in public accounting with the firm of Stout, Causey & Horning in 1999. During her time there she was involved in projects with various companies that include defense contractors, energy providers, health care providers and various retailers and wholesalers. With experience in multi-state Personal Property Tax and various software applications, Sue provides her clients with a multitude of services. Sue is in charge of all of the Firm's Personal Property Tax engagements. Her strong background in database management includes both design & utilization in applications like MS Access. Sue is also familiar with various kinds of accounting software including Quickbooks and Peachtree. Sue is a graduate of Towson University where she received her degree in Business Administration

Amy Metz, CPA

Amy Metz is a Certified Public Accountant, who graduated from the Sellinger School of Business and Management at Loyola College in 1994. Amy worked at Prime Retail, Inc. until 1999 and was promoted to a Senior Financial Analyst during her tenure. Her responsibilities included SEC reporting and analysis and managing the financial aspect of the clothing division, Designer Connection. Her next opportunity was with Black and Decker where she performed accounting close for the Accessories division, Fixed Asset Management, and putting together Financial Power Point presentations for Upper Management. Amy next moved to McCormick & Co. as a Sr. Financial Analyst working on the financial impact of prospective and renewed sales agreements offered to McCormick Customers.

In addition to serving her C.E.A. Scholtes clients, Amy is currently raising her 3 young children and keeps busy volunteering at their schools.

Jaya Mathur, CPA, MA

Jaya is a Certified Public Accountant with over six years of experience in accounting. She began her career in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers in July 1999. At PricewaterhouseCoopers, Jaya served in the role of auditor and consultant. She was involved in the audits and consulting engagements of several large federal government agencies and technology companies. In April 2001 Jaya joined Millennium Chemicals as a financial reporting accountant. Here she focused on SEC and global consolidation reporting. Jaya is a graduate of the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park. She received her Master’s Degree in International Development from American University, Washington DC in May 1999.

Annie Scholtes Quenzer

Annie Scholtes Quenzer is the office manager for C.E.A. Scholtes & Associates. She began her career with the firm in May of 2006. Some of her responsibilities include managing the client billing, company payroll, human resources, accounts receivable and accounts payable. In 1999, Annie began working for Pivec Internet as a graphic artist where she managed and maintained interactive programs on Toyota dealer websites. In addition to these duties, Annie was also the Director of Business Development for the company. Annie also handled the production billing for Pivec Advertising, LTD. It was with this job that Annie gained most of her experience in Quickbooks. Annie graduated with a B.S. degree from Villa Julie College.

Mary Warren Scholtes

Mary Warren is in charge of the Firm’s marketing activities, raising funds for the non-profit organizations that we serve and she handles all other office management functions for the practice. Mary Warren has many years of management experience both in non-profit organizations and for-profit organizations (including significant development activities). While living outside of Washington, D.C., Mary Warren started her own event planning company. Mary Warren has planned many events for many high profile organizations and individuals including the Republican National Committee and the Vice President of the United States. Mary Warren is highly organized and efficient and it is these traits that allow staff to work and focus on delivering high quality products to our clients. Mary Warren graduated with a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland (College Park).

Christina Mckinney-Wilhelm, CPA, MBA

Christina is a Certified Public Accountant with over 5 years of experience in financial management and accounting. She began her career in finance with McCormick & Co., Inc., in June 1995. During her time there she was involved in accounting and financial analysis for the local spice company. She then gained experience in the advertising industry as a Business Manager for Young & Rubicam, Inc., New York. There, she focused on business strategy, budgeting, development and financial analysis. Christina furthered her financial management experience as a Senior Financial Analyst for Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She concentrated on financial reporting, budgeting, and business strategy. Christina is a graduate of Hillsdale College in Michigan where she earned a B.A. in Business Administration and Finance. She also earned her Masters in Business Administration from The Sellinger School of Business and Management at Loyola College, Maryland.

Kimberly Paul

Kim has over 15 years experience in the Management, Accounting, Payroll, and Marketing of a jointly owned Corporation. Kim has vast knowledge of Quickbooks accounting software; including, initial client set up, payroll accounting and overall bookkeeping. Kim has provided such services as, auditing preparation, accounts receivable/payables, bank reconciliations, report management, payroll processing and marketing. Her knowledge in payroll is extensive which includes the processing of all related tax reporting forms. Kim heads up the Firms Payroll service line as well. She has two Associate Degrees; one in Business Administration and the other in Accounting. She is currently working towards the completion of her Bachelors Degree in Accounting.

Holly W. Matthai

Holly is a 1997 graduate of the University of Delaware where she received her B.S. degree in Accounting. She has over 10 years of experience in the accounting industry. She began her career with C.E.A. Scholtes & Associates in June of 2007. She brings with her the knowledge of both public and private accounting. Her experience has ranged from being an auditor with Reznick Group, P.C. a nationwide public accounting firm to being an Assistant Controller of Shelter Properties, L.L.C., a local real estate management company. At Reznick Group, P.C. she audited companies ranging from real estate clients to local Governments. During her six years as Assistant Controller she contributed to overseeing the monthly and daily accounting operations for a 30 person department and a portfolio of 110 management contracts. Currently, Holly works on one of the Firm's construction contractor clients performing many various accounting functions for that entity. In addition, the Firm leverages her knowledge of auditing by using her on various attest engagements.
